Artist Emerge

This Friday join me and the Monkey Food Music Group (MFMG) at “Artist Emerge”; an indie hip hop / R&B concert showcasing more of Philadelphia’s independent artists. Those performing include Chase Allen, Beano The Gentleman, Bones, I-Know Brasco, Rich Quick, and SpaceHigh Pate. I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some of the artists and for those I haven’t … well let’s just say I am looking forward to an awesome night. MFMG is family and l am happy to be a part of such movements. Be sure to make it out this Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 | Arts Garage 1533 Ridge Ave | 9PM

FRESH

Looking at my Serato week in and week out, I see the names, I know the faces but as a DJ you do not always get the pleasure to pull both into reality. Therefore it was somewhat of a shock to read a text message that said “Tye needs a DJ, What’s up ??” via my main man Pots & Pans InstaDolly or Maine (whichever you prefer). I instantly remembered going to Christmas concerts, buying albums, downloading mix-tapes, and youtube’ing Sound Check sheds. I think every DJ has that moment in his/her progression where they meet one of their most influential figures and its extremely humbling. In either case it was a great opportunity to meet one of my favorite gospel artists, Tye Tribbett and get to share with his friends and family my talent. Photo opts and video coverage were very limited due to the intimacy of the event, which is respectfully understandable but I must say I truly enjoyed myself.

Join The Campaign

“Boi Stop … Yeen No DJ” Be sure to join the campaign. I prefer you rock them with J’s but uhh I’ve had to recently make a few exceptions. Either way, I appreciate the support. Send me your pics and I’ll post em.

Intern Showcase

The Intern Showcase. For those who have become familiar with the name yet still unsure what the actual event consist of, allow me to explain. The intern showcase is is somewhat of a platform for upcoming artist in marketing, digital presence, and overall a new environment. Originating in New York, the showcase has since traveled to Philadelphia with plans to soon settle in Washington D.C. I initially had the opportunity to perform with Beano The Gentleman at the Intern Showcase in NY and was glad when I received confirmation to provide the house sound for the next showcase. I stood alongside Hot 107.9’s DJ Greg Nitty and I must say it was a great time. Performers included: Suzann Christine, GoGo Morrorw, Wyldfyre, Ryann, LA to name a few. I got a chance to see CoCoa Sarai perform for a second time and surprise performance by Beano. All in All , Great music, Dope performers, beautiful Atmosphere.
