Recently I had the pleasure of supporting a good friend of mine with her first official EP, “The Vintage Tape” by Carrera Shante. When she initially presented the idea of remaking a few of our favored hip-hop classics I was skeptical. Skeptical because not only has it been done before, but as a female in the current state of hip-hop culture there are unforeseen obstacles that always interfere. As time moved on, I begin to thrive off her ambition and also developed the let’s make it happen work ethic. A young African American woman pursuing a dream; removed from all facets of the industry that hinder striving artists we have Carerra Shante. Just her & her voice …
