I alongside my family, Abstract Thought, participated in a 15 game 3 on 3 basketball tournament which took place at Parkside Evans Playground on 53rd and Parkside here in Philadelphia. The tourney consisted 16 notable local clothing brands together for a common cause; raise money for urban community students school supplies. Curran J or Kings Rule Together orchestrated the tourney, sponsored by Vitamin Water, and hosted by Cory Townes. Music was provided my folk DJ JFive, what a night !!! The games were all in fun, but as expected things began to heat up in the eyes of competition. Check out some of the photos and video recap provided by ConcreteCakes.com…

a Walk on Water

For my 25th birthday I flew to Venice, Italy to celebrate. For those unfamiliar with Venizia it is the water city, no cars what-so-ever. Everything and everyone is transported by boat. Now for entertainment purposes this adds serenity to the atmosphere because the setting now becomes more intimate. I had the opportunity to work with my folks Chris So Fly & 80s Baby Rick who brought this experience to our beloved Philadelphia … “A Walk on Water”. Dockside Bar hosted the event and to many I’m sure they asked where is it … to this we answer, directly behind the Dave & Buster’s parking lot. As I DJ’ed the event a number of boats road up alongside the dock either to be noisy, join the party, or simply to just pass by. Either way it brought back memories of my time in Venizia. NEWtrition4 … another successful night of music. Powered by Abstract Thought x Sneaker Villa, the Blockley was packed with loyal supports. Many filled the floor in support of their favored artists and later gained interest in other performers. Ryshon Jones kicked things off with the unique song concepts, followed by People Like U$ artist Dana Black. Next up came classic hip-hop group, WrittenHouse with live instrumentation from Kush Shalimar (engineer of Abstract Thought’s The Crates). Followed by improved MPC solo of Kush, Bamboo and his band took to the stage to mellow out the evening with soulful R&B fused with Hip-Hop.

Then things got very interesting: The Producer battle !!! I alongside my brother, @BillyABSTRACT, hosted the battle which featured Brandon Lee, Joe Logic, and Pace-O Beats. The producers came with their A game and it was almost a split decision in the crowd until Pace dropped a beat leading to an unexpected freestyle battle between NEWtrition Alumni Chill Moody, Chase Allen, Aime, and guest Hank McCoy. Joe Logic also freestyled along with Pace beat adding 808’s and synthesizer effects. The crowd later deceided that Pace-O won the battle

Closing out the night came another People Like U$ artist, Al1Thing, followed by Ace Porter and Mont Brown. Special shouts to my fellow DJs Mike Lowry & Qlassick…we were suppose to have the battle, but it later turned into a scratch session and overall good time.

Thanks to all who performed & participated in making this event a continued success. Special shouts to Double XX District and Syncerely Syreeta for covering the event. Pics provided below …
